1980年，東京大学工学部機械工学専門修士課程修了（1988年工学博士）．同年，川崎重工業株式会社航空宇宙カンパニー入社．日本航空機開発協会次期旅客機YXXの研究開発，文部省宇宙科学研究所有翼飛翔体HIMESの研究開発と飛行実験．航空宇宙技術研究所および宇宙開発事業団宇宙往還機HOPE/HOPE-Xの研究開発，文部省宇宙科学研究所再使用ロケット実験機RVTの開発と飛行実験，防衛省次期固定翼哨戒機P-Xおよび次期輸送機C-Xの開発等に従事．2005年，九州工業大学教授．サブオービタルスペースプレーンの開発と事業化のため2017年12月に株式会社 SPACE WALKERを創業．2019年，東京理科大学嘱託教授であるとともにSPACE WALKERの最高技術責任者CTO．また，宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究所宇宙輸送系専門委員会委員．

Koichi Yonemoto graduated from Postgraduate School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tokyo in 1980, and received Doctor of Engineering in 1988. In 1980, he joined Aerospace Systems Company of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. and engaged in the research and development of next generation commercial aircraft YXX of Japan Aircraft Development Corporation, research, development flight test of winged space vehicle HIMES of Institute of Space and Astronautical Science at the Ministry of Education, space orbiting plane HOPE/HOPE-X of National Aerospace Laboratory and National Space Development Agency, development and flight test of reusable test rocket RVT of Institute of Space and Astronautical Science at Ministry of Education. military aircraft development of the next maritime patrol aircraft P-X and cargo aircraft C-X of Ministry of Defense. In 2005, he became a professor at Kyushu Institute of Technology. In 2017, he co-founded SPACE WALKER Inc. In 2019, he became a commissioned professor of Tokyo University of Science, CTO(Chief Technology Officer) of SPACE WALKR, and currently a member of Space Transportation Committee of Institute of Space and Astronautical Science at Japan Space Exploration Agency.
